10 career making options for Science Students apart from Engineering/ Medical after School?


Maybe you’d like to encourage your child to pursue an engineering degree, but he or she isn’t particularly excited about the prospect of being tied to a computer, solving math problems for eight hours a day.

Majority of students with a science stream in class XII aspire to pursue engineering/Medical courses, and often struggle with the thought, “If not engineering, then what?”

Here are some promising career options for science students after class 12th other than Engineering.

Defense Forces

Defense is Considered to be one of the most prestigious and awe-inspiring careers, Defense forms the backbone of a country’s security against external threats. Defense personnel are responsible for supporting peace-keeping operations and humanitarian work.



There are three primary branches of any country’s defense, namely, the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. You can choose to serve in any of the three and would have to undergo varying entry and training procedures, depending upon your choice.



Forensic Science

Forensic Science is an applied field, and utilizes knowledge from various fields of science, including Chemistry, Physics, Anthropology, Biology, and even Computer Science. In order to pursue a career in this field, you need to be detail-oriented and have good observational and investigative skills.


Ethical Hacking

Ethical hacking, by its very name, sounds like an exciting and off-beat career, and it indeed is. A career with a new-age flair, Ethical Hacking is fast becoming a popular career option for students due to advancements in the technology space. Ethical Hackers, as opposed to their malicious counterparts, attempt to breach the security of a computer system, to find faults in the system’s defenses.

Nautical Science

This study refers to the knowledge to safely operate and navigate the ship. This field is not just limited to marine Engineering. There are other courses also, related to this field. Some of them are diploma courses. These courses can be pursued to get shipping job.



Aviation

While mostly fields are associated with research or desk jobs, Aviation would take you on a sky-high ride. A perfect mix of science, technology and travel, a career in Aviation can top your list if you are looking for a career to skip the 9-to-5. Being a Commercial Pilot would require you to take command of a flight’s controls, and ensure that passengers and cargo are carried safely around the globe. Yet, the field of Aviation is not only limited to being a pilot.


Architectural Design

A 5-year course, Bachelor of Architecture is a branch that deals with planning and construction of buildings, commercial structures, public utility structures and so forth. An Architecture graduate can be absorbed in MNCs and leading players that operate in the construction sector.


Fashion & Apparel Designing

It is a 3-year academic program leading to a B.SC degree. It has a practical approach-based curriculum which includes fashion shows, advanced study of sketching and designs that starts from sketching and cutting on paper, seminars and regular interactions with celebrities from the Fashion Industry.


Bachelors in Science (BSC)

Don’t underestimate this course. A B.SC Degree followed by an M Sc Degree from a good college can be much beneficial to you and help build a promising career. The best part about this course is that there is immense scope in research field.

LAW COURSES

Other than engineering, science and management, 12th Science stream students are also eligible to pursue law education (the integrated format). Integrated law courses can be pursued right after 12th.

Today, it has evolved into a very popular career option in India. Filmmakers and animation companies are investing profusely into this sector.
